Our Vision for PE and Sport at St Michael’s CE Aided Primary School

At St Michael’s CE Aided Primary School, we believe that Physical Education and sport have a vital role to play in the physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual development of our children.  We aim to provide children with the opportunities to challenge themselves, inspire and be inspired, be active, collaborate, compete and lead others – the learning that takes place with these opportunities will lead to children that;

  • Have the self- confidence to solve problems and trust their own ideas and abilities
  • Work independently or as part of a team
  • Set a challenge and know what to do to overcome it
  • Help themselves and others to improve and achieve goals
  • Know how to have fun, take on different roles, be active and healthy

We teach children to be physically literate so that in turn these skills can be applied to sports and used in clubs and activities in a range of situations and contexts. We know that children have personal preferences in the activities they choose and we are proactive in offering a wide range of opportunities and exposure to many different sports. We hope children find the one they love and continue being active beyond school.
